Our Mission

#RESPECTTHEWATER

Our Mission at Desert Swim Academy is to provide a safe non-stressed environment, while ensuring the best possible experience for students, parents, and staff. We are in the business to save lives and educate all about respecting the water. Our long-term vision is to REDUCE drownings in the U.S by 25%. The United States averaged about 3,560 drownings a year. A 25% reduction would mean saving roughly 890 children a year. To accomplish this vision, Desert Swim Academy will offer quality swim lessons to ALL children, while ensuring all parents and students are educated on all risks and preventable measures.

#WATERAWARENESS

We believe in the aquatic journey of providing lifesaving swimming skills to all ages. Accidental drownings can happen at the beach, your pool at home, or even a small bucket in the backyard. Swimming is much more than learning different swim strokes, it’s about water safety and awareness. Drownings are the second leading cause of death in children aged 1 to 14 and can happen so quickly, within seconds your child can lose their life. So, water safety is important at any age, and providing aquatic safety education to all is just as important as swim lessons. Water safety is about having respect for the water.

#STOPDROWNINGS

At Desert Swim Academy, we are committed to #stopdrownings in the Coachella Valley! We cannot stress enough the importance of swim lessons and pool fences. Most drownings occur at a neighbors and friends pool. Therefore it is imperative that parents become fully educated about #waterawareness.

WHO IS MOST AT RISK

Males: Nearly 80% of people who die from drowning are male.

Children: Children ages 1 to 4 have the highest drowning rates. Drowning is responsible for more deaths among children 1-4 than any other cause except congenital anomalies (birth defects)

Minorities: The fatal unintentional drowning rate for African Americans was significantly higher than that of whites across all ages.5 The disparity is widest among children 5-18 years old.
