Tanya was so patient and calm while giving my one and half year old swim lessons. She taught her swim safety and swim basics, and my daughter learned so much! I now feel so safe with my little one in the pool.”

Just before our twins turned 3 we knew it was time to get them swimming and to learn how to be safe around pools. Not only was this important since we have a pool at home, but living in the desert means you are usually somewhere near a pool.  We wanted to know our kids would know what to do if they were ever in a situation that they fell into a pool. We were fortunate to be referred to Ms. Tanya and will forever be thankful for her amazing ability to teach our children water safety. After five 30 minute lessons she had our twins not only swimming but more importantly they knew  how to get to the edge and climb out on their own.  Ms. Tanya’s love for what she does is evident in the compassion she shows towards her students.  My kids adore and respect her and are turning into great swimmers because of her amazing commitment to teach. We now have all three of our children in weekly lessons and plan to continue as our kids continue to become stronger swimmers.”

I remember before Dejahs first swim class, she said that she didn’t really know how to swim, but knew how to not drown and that made complete sense to me. Not knowing really what to expect and feeling a little nervous, Tanya made Dejah feel comfortable immediately. She is very encouraging and motivating when Dejah would become a little hesitant to try something new, even jumping in the water to help her hands on. Dejah instantly felt safe and trusted her, that’s huge. Tanya displays such patience and is truly a professional in all aspects. Dejah now has more confidence in the water and she is also more explosive, powerful and carries more endurance on the basketball court. Desert Swim Academy is by far, the best swim program I’ve encountered. Thank you so much Tanya, we are so appreciative of what you’ve taught.”

My son has consistently had swim lessons since May, and because of the continued service and amazing ability Tanya has my son improving every lesson. My husband and I both feel comfortable with our son in and around the pool. Tanya has turned from our sons swim instructor to a good friend. Tanya is reliable, sweet, and has an amazing touch with working with children and having them succeed in their swim abilities. I personally have recommended many people too her, because I believe she is the person who can teach any child how to swim! Thank you Tanya for your amazing ability and great talent because of you my son can swim.”

Because of Tanya Orozco at Desert Swim Academy, our two-year-old daughter has a love of the water, practices pool safe skills, and most important is becoming an excellent swimmer! We started our daughter in the mommy and me “baby sharks” class at 11 months. As she loved seeing and swimming with Tanya, we transitioned to individual lessons twice a week. In just a year, she has become a competent and safe swimmer. There is no better feeling as a parent than instilling these life saving skills! Knowing our weekly lessons are my daughter’s favorite time of the week is an added bonus! We look forward to continuing to swim with DSA for many years.

Good news! Your child will swim after working with Tanya! Our experience with Tanya was a positive one. My child was a little timid during our first swim, but Tanya welcomed her in and helped her feel comfortable. After our last swim lesson, we had gotten dressed and were readying to go home, when my daughter accidentally fell into the pool where we had just completed our lesson. Instead of her and I both panicking, which would have been a likely scenario prior to lessons, I was able to remain calm and my daughter was able to confidently swim and climb out. This simple example showed me how even during an unexpected fall and a moment of stress, my daughter remembered how to swim and was able to quickly and safely exit the pool. Tanya takes water safety as a priority, and in doing so is saving lives throughout our desert. As a homeschooling parent with Inspire and with school funds to spend for educational purposes, I had many choices when it came to choosing a swim instructor… so I am glad that we found Tanya.

 SAFETY TIPS

Supervise: When in or around water designate a responsible adult to watch young children. Never leave children unsupervised near a pool, hot tub or natural body of water.

Air-Filled or Foam Toys: They are not safety devices. Don’t use air-filled or foam toys, such as “water wings”, “noodles”, or inner-tubes, instead of life jackets. These toys are not life jackets and are not designed to keep swimmers safe.

Buddy System: Never allow anyone of any age to swim alone; even expert swimmers can develop cramps, get dizzy, or hit their heads.
